GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Saint Mary's hockey programs are represented well this postseason with academic accomplishments. A total of nine student-athletes from each program have been tabbed with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large honors this postseason for their dedication on and off the ice.
Each institution can nominate Academic All-District recognition in the at-large category, which includes men's fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. Nominees must be a sophomore or older with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher. Hockey nominees must have competed in 90 percent of the team's total games or have started 66 percent of the total.
Women's hockey honorees
Five members of the Saint Mary's women's hockey team were awarded this accomplishment. Seniors Taryn Dornseif, Teagan Phillips, Celeste Rimstad and Taverie Sherner each received their first recognition, and junior Sophia Paduano earned her first CSC academic honor as well.

Phillips, the Oregon, Wis., native, was a captain this past season playing in all 25 games for the Cardinals at center. She recorded six goals with three assists over her senior season and ended it with a bang with a hat trick on senior night.
Also from Wisconsin, Somerset to be exact, is Dornseif, who was a crucial piece to the Cardinals' offense this season. She played in 23 games for the Cardinals, picking up an assist, and received her second academic honor of her career, the first being the conference academic award.
Sherner, the Maple Grove, Minn., native, played in all 25 games for the Cardinals, earning her 100 games played cap with three assists to her name this season. She is also earning her first CSC award but second academic award, earning the conference academic honor earlier this year.
The Cardinals' goalkeeper, Rimstad, was a wall in her senior year. The Richfield, Minn., native played in 15 games this season, making 312 saves with a .907 save percentage. She picked up three wins this year and recorded a shutout.
Rounding out the women's program is forward Paduano from Westby, Wis. The forward led the team in goals with nine and recorded three assists and two game-winners. She played in all 25 games.
Men's hockey honorees
On the men's side, four Cardinals earned the prestigious award after a historic season.
Seniors Blake Arneson, Jack Campion, Colin Tushie and junior Cole Mickel each received their first Academic All-District nods this past season.
Arneson, from Red Wing, Minn., played in all 26 games as a crucial defender. He recorded 30 blocks this season, a team high, and recorded two assists. He is earning his first CSC award but second academic award, earning the conference academic honor earlier this year.
His teammate Campion, the team captain from Crystal, Minn., bounced back from being injured his junior year to nine goals and nine assists his final season. Campion even recorded three game-winners and had a senior night to remember with a hat trick. He earned honorable mention honors by the conference this season.
Tushie, from Prior Lake, Minn., the other forward captain of the Cardinals, had himself a season with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. He notched two game-winners and averaged four points per game.
Lastly, Mickel, the All-American defender from Castle Rock, Colo., earned his first CSC honor after making headlines this season. Mickel scored three goals and racked up a conference-high 25 assists, earning him MIAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and making him an Academic All-American candidate.
