Hancock County supervisors on Oct. 20 unanimously approved the appointment of the county sanitarian, currently Chris Heyer, to serve as health official for Hancock County (Nuisance) Ordinance 7.

West Hancock on Thursday night crowned homecoming king Gustavo Gomez, who wants to be a professional photographer, and queen Aubrey Madson, who wants to be an anesthesia nurse. Both are decorated senior athletes in multiple high school sports.

Hancock County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Michelle Eisenman has announced that absentee ballots for the Nov.4 city/school Election will be available in the auditor’s office beginning Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Hancock County Maintenance Supervisor Jake Schreur on Monday informed supervisors that Alliant Energy has now run electric and gas service lines to the county’s new maintenance/storage building.

On Sept. 28, Hancock County Emergency Management announced that all of Hancock County was being placed under an open burning ban, beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 29. It was scheduled to continue until conditions have been deemed safe to resume open burning.
