As part of the Pride in Place initiative, we are inviting community members to capture what makes Mason City special through photography. Earlier this year, the Pride in Place community survey gathered input from residents on what they value most about living in Mason City, what they are proud of, and where they see opportunities for improvement. The survey results, along with community conversations, will help shape a community culture statement that reflects Mason City’s identity, celebrates local pride, and guides future growth initiatives. This photo contest is another opportunity for residents to share their unique perspective and showcase the places, people, and moments that embody the spirit of Mason City.
Contest rules
Each person may submit a maximum of two photos into the contest.
All photos must be submitted electronically to akrull@masoncityia.com by 11:59 p.m. on August 14. Please include your name and phone number with the photos.
Photos submitted must be of Mason City, Iowa.
If selected as a top-10 photo, finalists must turn in an 8"×10" or 16"×20" matted print by September 1 to the Greater Mason City Chamber of Commerce (9 N Federal Ave).
A panel of local professional photographers will review all electronic submissions and select 10 entries to advance to the final round. The judges will also select the Best of Show winner.
Finalists’ photos will be displayed at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum at the Community Conversations event on September 9 from 4-5 p.m.
The Best of Show winner will be announced during the Community Conversations event and will be displayed in the lobby of MacNider Art Museum for one month.
