WINONA, Minn. --- Winona State student-athletes participated in the department's annual Trick or Treat for Cans on Monday, October 26. With the help of the Winona community, the Warriors generated a record high donation total for the second year in a row.
Student-athletes went door to door across the city of Winona and received 3,221 pounds of food. Financial donations totaled the equivalent of 1,794 pounds for an overall equivalent of 5,015 pounds of food donated to Winona Volunteer Services and Warrior Cupboard. The total collected in 2025 was 4,920.
"This is one of the most impactful nights of the year," Melanie Brunsdon, Deputy Athletic Director, said. "We're very excited to have exceeded our goal of 5,000 pounds of food! I'm grateful for a community that opens their doors when our student-athletes knock, and thankful that our student-athletes take the time to give back."
Trick or Treat for Cans rounded out a busy October for Winona State student-athletes. Prior to last week's event, SAAC hosted its annual Warrior Spooktacular event.
