NIACC's Homola earns ICCAC player of week award

MASON CITY – NIACC freshman Mikayla Homola was selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week award for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

Homola, who is from Maple Grove, Minn., shared the award with DMACC's Beth Atwood.

Homola scored 22 points in No. 9 NIACC's 99-82 win over No. 18 Illinois Central last Friday at the Konigsmark Klassic. She was eight of 13 from the field, including three three-point goals.

Homola also had three rebounds and one assist against Illinois Central.

On Saturday in a 90-61 win over Bay College, Homola scored 10 points with three steals, two assists and two rebounds.

Dordt 65, Waldorf 48

SIOUX CITY – Dordt proved too much for Waldorf to handle Tuesday night as the Defenders scored a 64-48 victory.

Samantha Birkes (14), Ameh Ogbemudia (12) and Taylor Fricke (12) all scored in double figures for the Warriors.


Dordt 88, Waldorf 77

SIOUX CITY – Waldorf dropped an 88-77 game at Dordt College on Tuesday night.

Brady Kuchinka led the Warriors (1-2) with a game-high 29 points and Kaden Verdin added 15.

Chad Barkema scored 20 to lead the Defenders. Mason City grad Kyle Lang finished with eight points and was 3 for 5 from the field.


Highland to close for the season

MASON CITY – Highland Park Golf Course will be closed for for the season on Thursday. The last day to golf will be Wednesday.
