ROCKFORD | Newman Catholic took advantage of five forfeits to edge Rockford 36-30 in dual wrestling on Thursday.

Kam Black added a pin at 145 to provide the Knights with the final margin.

Rockford came back with a 39-30 win over Northwood-Kensett.

Grandt Staudt (285), Kaden Petersen (106) and Nick Goodrich (138) recorded falls for the Warriors.

Charles City 43, Oelwein 27

OELWEIN | The Comets won seven matches en route to Thursday's Northeast Iowa Conference dual meet.

Dylan Koresh, a junior ranked 10th in Class 2A at 160 pounds, wrestled at 152 on Thursday and posted a 18-3 technical fall over Joey Barron. Cole Reams opened the dual at 145 with a 19-2 technical fall of Drake Logan.

North Butler-Clarksville 60, St. Ansgar 6

ST. ANSGAR | North Butler-Clarksville jumped out to a 27-0 lead through the first six matches of Thursday's dual. Brandon Trees, ranked sixth at 170 pounds in Class 1A, opened the dual with a pin of Cody Downing in 1:01.

Derek Peterson picked up the Saints' lone win, a pin of Seth Lane in 1:18 at 106 pounds.

Central Springs 46, North Butler-Clarksville 30

The Panthers jumped out to a 27-12 over the first seven matches. Trees picked up his second pin of the night, a fall in 1:01 of Cody Downing in the opening match of the dual.

Clear Lakes sweeps home dual

CLEAR LAKE | The Lions beat Humboldt 31-30 and followed that with a 64-9 win win over Roland-Story on Thursday.

Eric Faught, the top-ranked wrestler at 126 pounds in Class 2A, pinned Jordan Jensen in 50 seconds to open the dual with Humboldt.

At 106 pounds, Clear Lake's Sam Nelson picked up a pair of wins by pinfall. Nelson is ranked eighth in Class 2A.

Lake Mills finishes 3-0 in home quad

LAKE MILLS | Lake Mills kept its strong dual season rolling Thursday night with three more wins in a home quadrangular. The Bulldogs beat Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (76-3), West Bend-Mallard (81-0) and North Union (78-6).

The Bulldogs had five pins against GHV, five against West Bend-Mallard, and seven against North Union.

B-K falls in pair of duals

IOWA FALLS | Belmond-Klemme was handed a paif of losses Thursday in a triangular at Iowa Falls-Alden. The Broncos lost to the Cadets 62-12 and fell to St. Edmond 36-18.

Tucker Kroeze was 2-0 for the Broncos.


Clarksville 63, Riceville 47

RICEVILLE — John Miller’s career-high 27 points were not enough to help lead Ricevile past Clarksville as the Indians won 63-47 Thursday night.

Grant Shedenhelm added seven points for the Wildcats.

Ben Waetjen led the Indians with 27 points and Ethan Schmidt scored 25.

CGD 59, B-K 38

BELMOND — Clarion-Goldfield-Dows picked up a 59-38 win over Belmond-Klemme on Thursday.

Sam Urness paced the Cowboys with 19 points and Rhett Darland had 14.

Koty Kuhlers scored eight for the Broncos and Carson Lane had seven.

NICS 60, Floyd Lighthouse 44

Brian VandenBerg led North Iowa Christian School with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Graham Hellman followed with 15 points. NICS moved to 4-2 with Thursday's win.

James Fox scored 19 points to lead Lighthouse, which also sits at 4-2.
