Hagen knew toppling Sifuentes was going to be a tall task Saturday night.

While the West Hancock junior had to settle for second, there was great appreciation about a week that put Hagen firmly on the statewide map.

“There’s no way to describe any of this,” Hagen said. “I’m coming right back next year.”

While Hagen was being interviewed, Sifuentes walked by and offered a quick comment to his TIC foe.

“2018 state champ,” Sifuentes told him.

West Fork’s Jarel Arbegast had his memorable week end with a runner-up finish after dropping his Class 1A 170-pound match 8-4 to Hudson’s Taylan Entriken.

“It’s been incredible,” Arbegest said. “It’s been fun. Obviously it didn’t end how I wanted it to.”

Arbegast said simply competing on the state’s biggest stage was an honor.

“You walk out and you look up, and you’ve never seen this many people in your life. And they are all looking at you,” he added.
