Central Springs 3, South Hamilton 2

JEWELL — Survive and advance. That’s all it was for Central Springs Monday in a thrilling five-set victory at South Hamilton.

The Panthers won by set scores of 25-16, 13-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11.

In the fifth and final set, Central Springs dominated most of the set until a late run by South Hamilton brought it within a point, down 12-11. The Hawks would get no closer as a kill by Hannah Ausenhus sealed the set and the match for the Panthers, who face Lake Mills in a 2A regional semifinal Thursday in Lake Mills.

Kaylee Parks handed out 49 assists for the Panthers, Morgan Kelley had 34 digs, and Ausenhus, Kessa Fingalsen and Anna Dietrich combined for 45 kills.

Dunkerton 3, Newman Catholic 0

DUNKERTON — No. 10 Dunkerton proved a bit too much for Newman to handle as the Knights watched their season end Monday night in a Class 1A regional quarterfinal loss in three sets, 25-12, 25-19, 25-9.

Newman finished its season 11-17.
