MASON CITY | The Mason City volleyball program has its new head coach.
Nicole Hunter, a fourth-grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary, was tabbed Tuesday as the new Mohawk head coach.
Hunter is a 2009 graduate of Creston High School and attended Southwestern Community College where she garnered all-conference honors before graduating from Iowa State.
Aside from success on the volleyball court, Hunter was a 2009 state track and field champion in the Class 3A 100 hurdles (14.90).
“Education and athletics have been a great passion for many years,” Hunter said in a release.
She takes over for Randy Lewis, who was the head coach at Mason City for nine years.
The Mohawks finished 8-25 in 2015.
