Rockford’s LaCoste, Lake Mills’ Rygh win titles at West Fork

ROCKWELL — Rockford’s Sheridan LaCoste and Lake Mills’ Caron Rygh each continued their strong seasons Thursday in a cross country meet hosted by West Fork.

LaCoste held off West Fork’s McKenna Weaver to win the girls race in 19 minutes, 44 seconds.

Rygh was champion of the boys race as he crossed the finish line in first place in 16:51.

The Newman boys and girls each rolled to team titles.

Davison breaks Mason City school record

FORT DODGE — Mason City's Emma Davison broke her own school record Thursday in a meet at Fort Dodge when she completed the five-kilometer course at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in 20:09, which broke her old record of 20:33.

Davison finished 41st for the Mohawks, who placed 12th as a team. Hannah Thomas added a 59th-place finish in 20:48.3.

Michael Rowe led the Mason City boys, who finished 14th as a team, with a 47th-place finish in 17:02.9. Derek Johnson added an 82nd-place performance in 17:48.

"Overall, this was our best meet of the entire season," Mason City coach Tyler Ketelsen said. Nearly every runner, JV and varsity for both the boys and girls teams, ran their lifetime bests tonight."


Webster City 3, Clear Lake 0

WEBSTER CITY — Clear Lake dropped a North Central Conference match at Webster City Thursday night, 25-20, 25-20, 25-10.

The Lions are back in action Saturday in a tournament at Mason City.
