Bishop Garrigan: Drake Buscherfeld
At 6-foot, 230 pounds, Buscherfeld is a load to handle along the defensive line for the Golden Bears. The all-stater is second on the team in tackles with 44 1/2, and has been a versatile player for coach Marty Wadle, playing both linebacker and defensive line.
Clear Lake: Joey Monson
The senior has been a handful for opposing offensive lines all season. Constantly in the backfield, Monson has racked up 12 solo sacks and 27 solo tackles for a loss. He’s also second on the team in total tackles with 50 1/2.
Riceville: John Miller
The senior is fourth in 8-man with 1,532 rushing yards and has found the end zone 24 times. As the Wildcats’ quarterback, Miller has also thrown for 431 yards and six touchdowns.
St. Ansgar: Dayton Smith
The senior broke the school’s career rushing record last week in a rout over Rockford, in addition to a handful of single-game records, and has been that good all season. He leads the Saints with 1,245 yards and 19 touchdowns, and is also their best defender with a team-high 89 total tackles.
West Hancock: MaCoy Yeakel
In his first year as a feature back, the West Hancock senior has been brilliant. Yeakel leads the run-happy Eagles with 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns on 87 attempts. His 12.4 yards per carry is one of the top in the state. He also has made a splash in the punt return game with five touchdowns and an average of 32.6 yards per return.
