Mason City junior Megan Meyer and Bishop Garrigan senior Jenna Boelter were large reasons for their teams’ success this season, and on Thursday the pair of stars on the basketball court added a couple more accolades.

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association released its all-state basketball team on Thursday and Meyer was a first-team selection in Class 4A, plus Boelter was named to the first team in Class 1A.

Meyer’s 25.1 points per game helped the Mohawks back to the Class 4A state tournament. She added a single-season school record of 71 made 3-pointers, had 81 steals and 72 assists.

Boelter was a record setter herself with 96 3-pointers for the Golden Bears, and she averaged 20.3 points per game in helping Garrigan to the state tournament. She added 89 steals and 79 assists.

The North Iowa area put six players on all-state teams by the IGCA.

Along with Meyer and Boetler, here’s the list:

Class 3A

Second team

Sara Faber, Clear Lake

The sophomore was the Lions’ leading scorer at 16.7 points per game and tallied team highs in rebounds (131), assists (73) and steals (87).

Third team

Abbey Holmes, Algona

The sophomore stepped into a leadership role this season and came through with a team-best 16.1 points per game. She also made 77 3-pointers, had 86 rebounds and 55 assists.

Class 2A

Third team

Kaylee Parks, Central Springs

The junior finished second in Class 2A with 23.3 points per game while adding 151 rebounds, 86 steals and 44 assists.

Class 1A

Second team

Rachel Leerar, West Hancock

The freshman had an outstanding first season for the Eagles as she scored a team-best 19.7 points per game, made 42 3-pointers, had 88 steals, 74 assists and 62 rebounds.
