CARLISLE — Mason City’s tournament magic ran out Saturday night as it fell 67-56 to 11th-ranked Carlisle in a Class 4A regional semifinal.

“We battled all night and had our chances in the fourth quarter,” Mason City coach Curt Klaahsen said. “It was back and forth and they just made a little run and made free throws. We were down 10 early and the kids kept fighting back and gave us a chance.”

Megan Meyer led the Mohawks (11-12) with 17 points, Anna Deets scored 14, Jacqueline Rier scored nine, Sydney Oliver had eight and Abbie Read chipped in five.

Additionally, Kiki O’Neill and Anna Lensing had two apiece and Megan Hollander scored one to round out the scoring.

Mason City graduates five seniors – Rier, Oliver, Read, O’Neill and Kayla Till.

“I’m really proud of those five seniors,” Klaahsen said. “They were not huge contributors to our team last year but were really important pieces of the team this year. We owe a lot to those seniors.”
