The Eagles lit up the scoreboard on Friday, Feb. 16. Freshman Rachel Leerar had 22 points and sophomore Madison Eisenman added 17, including five 3-pointers. Senior Kelly Leerar recorded 13 points while adding nine assists. Sophomore Riley Hiscocks and sophomore Amanda Chizek added 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Eagles put together a total of 14 3-pointers.
Senior Peyton Olson and junior McKenzie Sullivan each had nine points for Newman.
The Eagles (21-2) will take on Kee Lansing (21-1) at New Hampton on Monday.
Dike-New Hartford 52 Central Springs 45
The Panthers fell to Dike-New Hartford on the road on Friday, Feb. 16, 52-45. Central Springs finishes the season with a 17-6 record.
Mason City 59 Des Moines Roosevelt 47
Mason City racked up its fourth win against Des Moines Roosevelt on Friday, Feb. 16.
The Mohawks held a 20-18 lead at halftime and held Roosevelt to eight points in the third while scoring 16. In the fourth quarter, both teams would put up over 20 points, but the Mohawks would ride their lead until the end.
Junior Dylan Miller led the Mohawks in scoring, going 7-for-15 from the field, including two 3-pointers for 23 points. He also recorded a team-high nine total rebounds.
Senior Jake Rood added a nine-point effort. Junior Javorious Toney and senior Ben Pappas would add eight each. Pappas also had six rebounds.
NIACC splits pair of games
AUSTIN, Minn. - The NIACC softball team split a doubleheader with Viterbo University on Thursday at the Westcott Athletic Complex.
NIACC won the first game 13-12 and dropped the second game 9-6.
In the first game, NIACC's Kaitlyn Carlson drove in four runs and Courtney Johannes drove in three runs. Also, Morgan Thesing-Ritter, Kaci Sherwood and Johannes all had three hits apiece.
In the second game, Thesing-Ritter collected two hits and scored two runs. Johannes and Kayla Till both had two hits and Sherwood drove in two runs.
NIACC 93 Iowa Central 73
The NIACC women cruised to victory on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Sophomores UU Long and Adria Stewart dominated the court. Long posted a team-high 18 points and Stewart added 15. Sophomore Taylor Laabs added a 14-point performance.
NIACC moves to a 20-6 overall record and will play at Ellsworth Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
