NIACC 110, DMACC 78
MASON CITY — No. 13 NIACC rolled to an easy win Saturday afternoon over DMACC, 110-78.
Mikayla Homola paced the Lady Trojans with a game-high 26 points, Taylor Laabs scored 19 points and UU Longs added 16 points and seven assists.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Kelsie Willert scored seven points, handed out 10 assists and grabbed six rebounds, Morgan Frank scored nine, Cici Kieger had eight, and Khalilah Hollaway had 10 rebounds.
Joniqua Clark led the Bears with 22 points.
NIACC (22-6, 9-3) travels to Iowa Lakes on Wednesday.
Waldorf’s Fricke named to NSAA all-conference team
FOREST CITY – The North Star Athletic Association named its women’s basketball all-conference team Friday night, and the Waldorf Warriors were represented by Taylor Fricke, who was honored for her play this season.
Fricke, a junior forward who averaged team-bests of 12.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season, was named to the NSAA honorable mention all-conference team.
Jamestown, which won the regular-season NSAA title, led the way grabbing 3-of-4 special awards as Bryn Woodside was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and the NSAA Defensive Player of the Year, and coach Greg Ulland was named Coach of the Year.
DMACC 65, NIACC 53
MASON CITY — NIACC’s strong defensive effort came up short Saturday in a 65-53 loss vs. DMACC.
Orrington Hamilton led the Trojans with 15 points, Jaycob Payne had 11 points and six rebounds and Nick Wurm added nine points.
Wali Parks and Lee Higgins led four Bears players in double figures with 12 apiece.
