WIC Foods

Peaches, strawberries and snap peas are among the fresh foods that will be covered under changes to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, known as WIC.

MASON CITY | The North Iowa Community Action WIC Program offers nutritious foods to families in nine counties.

The federally funded health and nutrition program, which offers monthly food packages, may be available to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum or have an infant or child under 5 years old in Cerro Gordo, Butler, Hancock, Kossuth, Floyd, Winnebago, Mitchell, Franklin and Worth counties.

Some of the items included in the food package are milk, cereal, fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, infant formula and baby food.

Families that receive Medicaid, Family Investment Program (FIP), Food Assistance/SNAP or meet certain income guidelines qualify for the WIC program.
