FORT DODGE | A Northwood man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in the summer of 2013 is scheduled to stand trial beginning Monday in Webster County District Court.
Tyrone Washington Jr., 41, is charged with first-degree murder in the Aug. 5, 2013, death of Justina Smith, 30, Northwood. Her body was found in Swensrud Park in Northwood.
Washington's trial was moved to Fort Dodge on a change of venue due to concerns about the racial makeup of the potential jury pool. A hearing will be held Monday morning prior to the start of jury selection on a defense motion asking that the court throw out the entire jury pool.
