MASON CITY | Voters in the Second Ward and Fourth Wards will go to the polls Tuesday to elect new council members in runoff elections.

Second Ward candidates are Troy Levenhagen and Will Symonds. In the Fourth Ward, John Jaszewski is opposed by Matt Marquart.

They were the top two vote-getters in their respective wards in the Nov. 7 general elections. Since no candidate in either race received 50 percent of the vote, a runoff is required between candidates who finished first and second.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can cast their ballots in any one of four vote centers:

- Cerro Gordo County Courthouse, 220 N. Washington Ave.

- First Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Pierce Ave.

- Rolling Acres Christian Reform Church, 340 19th St. S.W.

- Columbia Club (Knights of Columbus), 551 S. Taft Ave.

Absentee ballot requests, as of 2 p.m. Monday, showed 157 requested, 135 returned in the Second Ward; 162 requested, 147 returned in the Fourth Ward.
