Parents: Joe and Kelly Schutter
Activities: Throughout my years, I have tried my best to be involved in a wide range of activities. In high school, I have participated in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, Fall Play, Spring Musical, Talented and Gifted (TAG), National Honor Society, Student Council, Quizbowl, Yearbook, FCCLA, Teacher Assist, Big Buddies, Speech, and organizing and heading our school's pajama drive in participation with Scholastic's Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. Some of my favorite service projects through these groups and organizations would be hosting the Senior Citizens Meal, selling daffodils for Daffodil Days to raise money for cancer research, and organizing our school's local food drive. Outside of school I have been actively involved in 4-H. I have been the secretary/treasurer for five consecutive years. In 4-H, my favorite activities include helping with Lakota's Santa Days, selling memory bulbs for our Memory Tree, setting up our annual Nativity Scene, planting flowers in parks and in barrels, decorating Lakota's main street to promote 4-H Month, helping serve at the Community Club Pancake Breakfast, and cleaning up and preparing the fairgrounds. Outside of 4-H and school, I am a Sunday School teacher, have cleaned our church, painted city buildings and parks, and have been actively involved in our youth ministry, including creating a youth group called Connected. In 2015, I traveled to Detroit, Michigan to do service there for the ELCA National Youth Gathering, and will also be traveling to Houston in July for the 2018 National Youth Gathering to continue service and missionary work.
After graduation: I will be attending college at Iowa State University. I plan to major in Animal Science with a pre-veterinary focus. After I get my bachelor's degree, I plan to attend veterinary school. During my time at Iowa State, I plan to volunteer and work at animal shelters/hospitals.
