A man walks out of Southbridge Mall as high winds and heavy snowfall caused low visibility in Mason City in March 2018.

MASON CITY | Snow is still predicted for Mason City tonight, but forecasters say it will likely be less than first predicted.

National Weather Service forecasts earlier this week predicted between 2 to 3 inches of snow Thursday night into Friday, but most recent forecasts show Mason City is expected to receive an inch or less.

Snow is expected tonight, mainly before 2 a.m., with an inch or less possible, forecasters say.

On Friday, forecasters say there is a 20 percent chance of snow before noon.

Winds are expected to be strong Friday -- between 19 to 24 mph during the day and 29 mph at night -- driving wind chill values as low as 5 degrees during the day and minus 5 degrees at night.
