MASON CITY | State Sen. Amanda Ragan, D-Mason City, has announced she will seek election to a fourth term in the Iowa Legislature.
Ragan represents District 27 which includes Cerro Gordo County except the eastern towns of Dougherty, Plymouth, Portland and Rock Falls; all of Franklin County; and portions of Butler County, including the towns of Allison, Aredale, Bristow, Dumont, Clarksville and Greene.
“I’m running for re-election because I’m passionate about community service,” Ragan said. “Working for the people of North Iowa is a wonderful privilege. We’ve accomplished a great deal together, but there’s more to be done.”

Ragan is executive director of the Community Kitchen of North Iowa and Mason City Meals on Wheels. She is also involved in many civic activities.
Ragan has two grown children and four grandchildren. She and her husband, Jim, live in Mason City.
Two Republicans have announced their candidacies in District 27, former Hampton Mayor Shawn Dietz and Timothy Junker of Allison.
