Rosie was a true homemaker and farm wife working hand in hand with Ben to raise crops and livestock. Rosie took charge of the chores so that Ben could work off the farm to support their growing family. She loved the out of doors and spent many hours working in the flower beds and vegetable gardens. There was always room at Rosie's kitchen table for family and friends who might stop by. During baling and corn shelling time she would provide two square meals as well as morning and afternoon coffee for a crew of thirty-five or more! She was a pro at packing meals to deliver to all the workers in the fields.
In addition to her life on the farm, Rosie was actively involved in her children's activities. These included 4-H, UM youth group, Hobo Day Church stand and Music Mothers. She attended many sports events, music concerts, plays, and award banquets. Wherever her children were participating, you would find Mary Rose.
During the last twenty years of her life, Rosie fought Parkinson's disease. She refused to let it beat her. She continued to find ways to adapt to remain as vital as possible. Rosie modeled grace and determination for all with whom she came in contact as she persevered.
