Northwood skid loader accident

The Worth County Sheriff's Office responds to a report of a Bobcat skid loader in the ditch at Highway 105 and Pheasant Avenue near Northwood Tuesday.

NORTHWOOD | A rural Northwood man is in serious condition after being involved in a skid loader accident just outside of Northwood, officials said.

The Worth County Sheriff’s Office received a call saying a Bobcat skid loader had gone into the ditch at the intersection of Highway 105 and Pheasant Avenue.

“The caller also stated the Bobcat was on its side and the driver was trapped inside,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The time of accident is unknown.

Emergency crews arrived and helped remove the driver, Mark Haugebak, of rural Northwood, from the skid loader, the sheriff's office said. Mercy Air Med transported Haugebak to the hospital.

He was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon, according to a Mercy Medical Center--North Iowa spokeswoman.

The Northwood Fire Department and Mason City Ambulance assisted at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
