Governor Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for 19 Iowa counties on Thursday, including Cerro Gordo, Butler, Franklin, and Kossuth.
The proclamation is in response to this month's string of severe weather events across the state, and allows state resources to be used for response and recovery efforts in the affected counties. Residents affected may also be eligible for storm recovery grants.

Those wishing to seek grants are instructed to contact their local Department of Human Services office or visit www.iowacommunityaction.org.
Officials are also reminding residents of the importance of reporting all storm damage in an effort to effectively record the information and share it with state and federal emergency management agencies.
