Local students graduate from Connections Academy Iowa

Several students from Mason City and Osage recently graduated from Iowa Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school serving students in grades K-12.

They are: Emma Barrett, Ivy Faktor, James Studer and Marisa Wendel.

More than 65 seniors were part of the school’s annual high school graduation ceremony, the largest graduating class since the school opened in 2012. Hundreds of family members, friends, teachers and administrators gathered in West Des Moines for the ceremony on Saturday.

The 65 percent of graduates who plan to attend two- or four-year colleges or universities are headed to schools including University of Iowa, Digipen Institute of Technology and Belmont University.

Iowa Connections Academy serves approximately 600 students in grades K-12 across Iowa.
