MASON CITY | Cerro Gordo County Republicans honored longtime GOP advocate De Byerly this week by naming their campaign headquarters in her name.

The De Byerly Victory Office is at 124 Fourth St. S.W. in the former River City Bagel building.

Byerly, who now lives in Florida with her daughter, was active in Republican politics in North Iowa for many years, often as the greeter when state and national politicians came to Mason City to campaign and organizer of dozens of GOP events.

She was elected to the Cerro Gordo County Central Committee in 1998 and later that year was elected to the GOP State Central Committee where she served until 2002.

She also worked as a state organization coordinator for the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in 2003-2004.

Her brother-in-law, W.C. "Bill" Byerly represented the family at the dedication Wednesday.
