Gone Cold: Exploring Iowa's unsolved murders is a year-long collaborative effort by Iowa news organizations to revisit some of the most brutal and mystifying homicides in state history.
We will share information about many of the state’s 438 unsolved homicides. It is our hope that by sharing these stories with a broad audience, justice will come for some of these victims.
Victims like Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and Elizabeth Collins, 8, who were abducted in July 2012 near Evansdale and whose bodies were found five months later 24 miles away in rural Bremer County. And real estate agent Dorothy Miller, who on Aug. 18, 1969, was raped and stabbed while showing an unoccupied house in Burlington.
On a regular basis over the next year we will explore these cold cases. There is no statute of limitations on murder charges.
The series published in 2015-16.
