Rural Cerro Gordo

Rescue personel respond to the the 8400 block of Indigo Avenue where a rural mail carrier struck a county worker with their car as the man worked on removing a downed tree in the roadway on Thursday. The county worker was transported via Mason City Fire Department to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in good condition. 

SWALEDALE | A Cerro Gordo County employee was transported to the hospital after being struck by a car Thursday afternoon near Swaledale.

About 1:10 p.m., the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 9000 block of Indigo Avenue for a pedestrian who was struck by a car.

Robert De Los Santos, 61, of Sheffield, was driving a 1999 Cadillac southbound on Indigo Avenue as a rural mail carrier when he struck a Cerro Gordo County Conservation Maintenance worker who was working on some trees in the ditch.

The maintenance worker is identified as Isaac Bartz, 22, of Mason City.  

North Iowa woman injured after icy roads cause rollover

Bartz was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center–North Iowa and is doing well, a Cerro Gordo County deputy said at the scene.

A release from the sheriff’s office said his injuries were not life threatening.

Swaledale Fire Department and Mason City Fire Medics assisted at the scene.
