MESERVEY | A Thornton man is accused of drunk driving following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Friday night near Meservey.

Deputies responded to the crash about 9:28 p.m. at the intersection of 120th Street and Balsam Avenue, just north of Meservey, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office said Shawn Lane, 48, was westbound on 120th Street when he lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson and slid the motorcycle into the ditch.

He was found to be intoxicated, according to law enforcement, but only sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

Lane was charged with three misdemeanors: operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to maintain control. A court date hasn't been set.

His motorcycle sustained minor damage in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

Fire departments from Thornton and Meservey provided assistance.
