Law enforcement responded to a report of a possible armed person making threats inside of a residence Friday night.

At about 7:35 p.m. Mason City Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Sixth Street Southeast on a report of a disturbance.

There, they found a person inside the residence making threats and thought to be armed with a gun, according to an MCPD press release.

Officers stood by the residence and attempted to make contact with the person for a little less than an hour, police said.

“A code red was sent to the surrounding neighbors to alert them of the situation,” the release said. At about 8:27 p.m., the person did come out of the residence without incident.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
