CLEAR LAKE | A North Iowa man arrested on a warrant for burglary is also accused of strangling a woman in a domestic incident.

Aaron Rogers Mitchell, 24, was charged with felony first-degree burglary, misdemeanor possession of marijuana - first offense and domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow. Court documents list his address as Mason City, Clear Lake and Fort Dodge.

Court documents say he is accused of entering a woman's apartment in the 400 block of Main Avenue in Clear Lake about 6:30 a.m. March 24 and assaulting a person inside, causing bodily injury.

Cerro Gordo County deputies arrested Mitchell on a warrant at the same residence about 3:16 a.m. Monday.

Deputies wrote in charging documents they found a blunt with suspected marijuana in his front sweatshirt pocket.

Mitchell is accused of strangling a woman about 12:30 a.m. that morning near the intersection of 290th Street and North Carolina Avenue in Mason City.

He allegedly impeded the woman's air flow by applying pressure to her neck, causing her to have difficulty breathing, and leaving red scratch on her neck, according to court documents.

Two no-contact orders were issued Monday.

Mitchell is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $27,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Sept. 13.
