MASON CITY - A Mason City woman was arrested for stealing jewelry from a residence she cleaned, documents said.

Kelly Louise Frein, 59, was charged with felony first degree theft from a residence near 12th Street Northeast and North Illinois Avenue in Mason City.

Between July 1 and Aug. 15, Frein was hired to clean the home.

According to court documents, Frein stole multiple jewelry items including gold, silver and diamonds during that time period.

Mason City Police found Frein in possession of multiple jewelry items belonging to the occupants of the home that she admitted to taking during a police interview, court documents said.

The criminal complaint was filed Jan. 2 and Frein was arrested.

She was released on her own recognizance following her initial court appearance Jan. 3.

Frein is scheduled to appear Jan. 18 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
