Mason City woman accused of hitting man with stick, throwing speaker at him

MASON CITY | A Mason City woman has been charged with domestic abuse after police said she assaulted a man.

Jaqulin Beth Farmer, 34, has been charged with domestic abuse assault – injury or mental illness, first-offense following an incident in the backyard of a residence in the 1400 block of North Washington Avenue.

About 11:26 p.m. June 6, Farmer is accused of hitting a man with a stick, causing a welt on his back; throwing a speaker at him, causing bruising and a cut on his leg and shoving him backwards, causing him to hit his arm on a shed behind him, Mason City police wrote in charging documents.

A warrant for her arrest was issued June 7. Farmer was arrested by a Mason City police officer June 29, booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail and released on her own recognizance following a court appearance.

A no-contact order has been filed.

Farmer is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court July 20.
