MASON CITY | A Mason City woman accused of being intoxicated at a Mason City care center has additional charges pending for theft from three Mason City stores. 

Natalie Ann Morel, 31, is charged with misdemeanor simulated public intoxicated -- second offense and three courts of misdemeanor fifth-degree theft. 

Mason City police say Morel "appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or some substance" while inside and outside Good Shepherd Health Center, 302 Second St. N.E., Aug. 1, according to court documents.

"While there, the defendant was staggering, was confused, unsteady and had slurred speech," police wrote in the charging documents. 

Morel is also accused of stealing a $3 bottle of Luminous Oil Softsoap from Hy-Vee East April 22, two items totaling $10 from Dollar General April 23 and make-up valued at $33.98 from Wal-Mart Aug. 23, court documents said.

She is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo District Court Aug. 29.
