MASON CITY | A Mason City man who was struck by a pickup truck last Wednesday has died.
Police say Jason Garcia, 43, of Mason City, died Saturday as a result of his injuries.
Garcia was walking with another person northbound on South Eisenhower Avenue when a pickup struck him from behind about 10:47 p.m. Nov. 7, near the intersection of 19th Street Southwest.
The driver of the pickup, Jay Paulsen, 45, of Mason City, was cited for driving under suspension. He is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Nov. 28 on that citation.

Garcia, who was walking in the roadway, was transported to Mercy Hospital for "extensive injuries," Mason City Police Capt. Mike McKelvey said in a news release. Garcia was later life-flighted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Paulsen and the other individual, who police say was walking on the shoulder of the road, were not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation. No additional charges had been filed in connection with the crash as of Tuesday afternoon.
