MASON CITY | A Mason City man has been arrested for drugs and fighting with officers.
Anthony Edward Heard, 32, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication and interference with official acts.
At about 7:17 p.m. April 28, Heard was a passenger in a vehicle where the driver was being arrested for an OWI in the 2400 block of 4th Street Southwest.
He is accused of getting out of the vehicle against officer orders, the criminal complaint stated, which noted Heard had "bloodshot, watery eyes, impaired balance and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.”
Heard was arrested in the parking lot for public intoxication.

During his arrest, he was told to place his hands behind his back. Heard refused and began to pull away from officers the officers and fight them, court documents said.
Police then searched the vehicle for open alcoholic beverage containers, court documents said, and found methamphetamine, a glass pipe and a scale used for weighing illegal drugs.
Heard allegedly admitted to officers that the items were his.
Heard was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail and posted a $2,000 bond April 30.
He is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Wednesday. Heard pleaded not guilty to the three misdemeanor charges and his trial is set for Oct. 29.
