Raul Millares Arias of Mason City was charged with five counts of felony willful injury after he allegedly stabbed multiple people in an incident at The Place 2B, 116 N. Federal Ave, on Wednesday evening.

MASON CITY | A Mason City man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed multiple people at a downtown bar on the Fourth of July.

Raul Millares Arias, 39, was charged with five counts of felony willful injury -- causing serious injury following an incident at The Place 2B, 116 N. Federal Ave.

At about 10:16 p.m. Wednesday, Mason City police officers were dispatched on a report of multiple people stabbed.

The first officer who arrived found witnesses had detained Millares Arias across the street from the bar, Mason City Police Lt. Rich Jensen said in a news release.

Staff had asked Millares Arias to leave the business due to his behavior. He returned to the bar shortly after and stabbed five customers before he was confronted by another customer who chased him out of the bar, Jensen said.

“Most of the victims had stab wounds to their neck or head and were treated at the hospital,” Jensen said. One was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

Court documents said Millares Arias stabbed five people with a knife, "causing serious injury to the neck and back area."

According to court documents, four men and one woman were stabbed in the incident. Police Chief Jeff Brinkley told the Globe Gazette that the knife was recovered.

Millares Arias was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail shortly after midnight Thursday, where jail records indicate he is being held in the detox cell on a $50,000 bond.

No-contact orders were issued Thursday.

Millares Arias is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court July 13.

Court documents noted that a Spanish interpreter was used during his initial court appearance.
