MASON CITY - A Mason City man was arrested Monday and charged with robbery after allegedly threatening two people and stealing their cigarettes.
McKinley Dudley Jr., 59, was charged with felony second-degree robbery following an incident at 6th Street and North Federal Avenue.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday, Dudley Jr. approached a man and woman “and asked them if they wanted to get shot,” court documents said.
“The defendant then threatened them with an object that appeared to be a gun and demanded them to empty their pockets and bags,” the criminal complaint said.
Dudley Jr. allegedly took cigarettes from the man and woman. He then escorted them to an apartment complex where he lives before letting them go, Mason City Police said in the criminal complaint.
Court documents list his residence in the 100 block of Fifth Street Northwest.
Dudley Jr. was arrested, booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail around 2 a.m. Monday morning and released under the supervision of the Department of Correctional Service following his initial court appearance later that morning.
Dudley Jr. is scheduled to appear Sept. 28 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
