MASON CITY | A Mason City man has been charged with domestic abuse for allegedly strangling a pregnant woman and punching her in the stomach.

Jessie Perry Thompson, 24, was charged with misdemeanor domestic abuse assault, impeding flow of air/blood following an incident on the 200 block of Eighth Street Southeast.

He was arrested, booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail June 22 and  released on his own recognizance following his initial court appearance.

A no-contact order was issued the same day. Thompson is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County Jail July 6.
