MASON CITY | A Mason City man is accused of punching a woman, possessing meth and resisting arrest early Wednesday morning.

Ryan David Baker, 34, is charged with misdemeanor serious assault causing bodily injury, possession of a controlled substance-second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts.

Mason City police say Baker allegedly punched a woman in the face, nose and mouth with in the 600 block of North Delaware Avenue after 1 a.m.

A small, plastic baggie of methamphetamine was found on his person, police wrote in charging documents. Three glass pipes were also found with burn marks and residue inside of them, according to court documents. 

Police said Baker resisted being placed into handcuffs when informed that he was under arrest. He is accused of pulling away from officers when his arms were being placed behind his back, charging documents said. 

Baker is being held in Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $1,000 bond. A hearing for the possession of a controlled substance and assault charges is Jan. 26 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.  

Baker pleaded not guilty for the possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts charges. A non-jury trial for those charges is July 17.
