Mason City man accused of holding knife to woman's throat, choking her

MASON CITY | A Mason City man was arrested for allegedly holding a knife to a woman’s throat and choking her in a domestic abuse incident, police say. 

Carl Vincent Brown, 26, was charged with felony domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury following an incident at his apartment on the 2400 block of South Taft Avenue.

At about 3:26 p.m. Wednesday, court documents said Brown allegedly held a knife to a woman’s throat, leaving a small laceration on the front of her throat. The two had been arguing, police wrote in court documents. 

The woman attempted to leave the residence after Brown put the knife down, according to court documents. 

Brown then put his hand around the woman’s throat and attempted to choke her, court documents said.

Brown was arrested and booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail, where he being held on a $5,000 bond. A no-contact order was issued Wednesday.  

He is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Nov. 16.
