Mason City man accused of fondling child released from jail, placed on house arrest

MASON CITY | A Mason City man is accused of fondling a child and showing her pornography, police say.

Patrick Lavern Holt, 58, was charged with lascivious acts with a child — fondle or touch — stemming from an incident several years ago with a 10- to 11-year-old girl.

According to court documents, the child reported in June that Holt had molested her two or three years ago — between June 2014 and June 2017 — at his residence in the 1400 block of North Federal Avenue.

During a Child Protection Center interview, she said Holt had put his hand inside of her pants, fondled her and told her “they were having sex when he touched her," court documents say. He also allegedly exposed himself to her and showed her pornography.

A warrant for Holt’s arrest was issued and served Jan. 19. He was held on $10,000 bond until his first court appearance.

He was released from Cerro Gordo County Jail under the supervision of the Department of Correctional Services.

A no-contact order was also issued.

Holt is scheduled to appear in Cerro Gordo County District Court Feb. 9.
