MASON CITY | A Mason City man who is accused of fatally stabbing another man will go to trial in December.

Braedon Bowers’ trial was continued on Sept. 11 and was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in Cerro Gordo County District Court. Bowers, 20, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Bowers is accused of stabbing Wraymond Leon Todd, 23, Mason City, on May 30. Todd died at the hospital June 4.

Police say Bowers stabbed Todd in the chest May 30 on West State Street in Mason City and then fled the scene. He was arrested for attempted murder the next day but the charge was upgraded to first-degree murder after Todd's death.

Bowers remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $500,000 cash-only bond.

If convicted, he faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
