CLEAR LAKE | A Leland man has been sentenced for his actions in an incident where he slammed a woman's head into a wall and initially told police the noise was "loud Slipknot music," according to court documents.

Joseph Aaron Mannahan, 33, pleaded guilty to domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. Judge Karen Salic on Jan. 22 sentenced him to 180 days in jail, all of which was suspended except for two days. He will also be on probation for a year and was ordered to pay a $315 fine.

The Globe Gazette previously reported Clear Lake police responded to a call about 10:55 p.m. Jan. 5 to an apartment in the 2100 block of 14th Street North.

According to police, Mannahan initially said he did not do anything to the woman, and said the noise was "just loud Slipknot music."

The victim also told police Mannahan had been drinking and police could smell a faint odor of alcohol under his breath, according to court documents.
