ALGONA | A Lakota woman has been charged with theft after failing to pay for a shower at an Algona truck stop in February.

Laurin Casey Henton, 38, is accused of entering the back door of Chrome Truck Stop, 211 Highway 18 E., taking a $12.50 shower and leaving without paying, according to the Algona Police Department criminal complaint.

“Laurin was told by employees that she needed to pay for the services of the shower,” police wrote in charging documents. “Laurin left the store knowing that the shower wasn’t free and did not pay for the services.”

The incident was reported about 8:56 p.m. Feb. 22. Henton has been charged with fifth-degree theft.

She is being held in the Kossuth County Jail. A court date hasn’t been set.
