MASON CITY | A Georgia man was arrested for defrauding a Mason City woman by claiming to be a "United Nations courier" and stealing $3,000.

Imonije Nathaniel Emuobosa, 41, of Jonesboro, Georgia, was charged with felony second degree theft.

Sometime between Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, 2018, Emuobosa allegedly deprived and defrauded a woman of $3,000.

“Emuobosa portrayed himself as an agent from the United Nations diplomatic courier service and promised to deliver a box in exchange for the $3,000,” Mason City Police noted in the criminal complaint.

According to court documents, the money was deposited into Emuobosa's bank account and bank records show that woman's money was put into his account.

The criminal complaint was filed and a nationwide warrant was issued June 7.

Emuobosa was arrested and booked in Cerro Gordo County Jail. He posted $5,000 following his initial court appearance Feb. 21.

He is scheduled to appear Friday in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
