Garner man to be tried in July on theft, burglary charges


GARNER | A man accused of stealing more than $10,000 in cash, a firearm and prescription pills from a home in rural Garner last year is scheduled to be tried July 11. 

Anthony James Fickel Schoneman, 23, Garner, is charged with felony second-degree burglary and first-degree theft, as well as misdemeanor Oxycotin and Hydrocodone possession. 

He recently pleaded not guilty to those charges.

On May 15, 2017, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office investigated a burglary complaint in the 3000 block of Oak Avenue. 

More than $10,000 in cash along with coins, collector coins, a firearm, ammunition and prescription pills were taken, according to a criminal complaint. 

The sheriff's office filed charges against Schoneman on March 24. He was arrested in Garner on a warrant on March 27 in Garner. 

He was released from jail on $5,000 cash bond.
