Forest City man arrested on drug trafficking charges

FOREST CITY | A Forest City man is facing three felony charges related to dealing meth and marijuana.

Braxton A. Schroeder, 32, was arrested July 7 on warrants for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.

Law enforcement recovered approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, as well as scales, baggies and additional paraphernalia, while executing a search warrant at Schroeder's residence at Westown Place Apartments, 210 Bob Johnson Drive, on May 17, according to a Hancock County Sheriff's Office criminal complaint.

Schroeder also allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he distributed less than 5 grams of meth, court documents said.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail, where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 18.
