FOREST CITY | A Forest City man has been charged with sexually assaulting a female minor.
Stephen Aguirre Jr., 40, was arrested last week on a warrant for felony third-degree sexual abuse. In Iowa law, sexual assault and rape is charged as sexual abuse.
Aguirre allegedly put his hands on the minor's genitals against her will on Oct. 27 at his Forest City residence, according to the criminal complaint.
Aguirre was booked into the Winnebago County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000.

A bond hearing for Aguirre was held this week. During the hearing Aguirre requested release from custody with supervision.
District Court Judge Gregg Rosenbladt denied that request, but agreed to modify his bond so he can post $10,000 cash, a surety bond of $10,000, or $1,000 cash directly with the clerk of Winnebago County District Court.
If Aguirre is able to post bond, he will be released to pretrial supervision. He is scheduled to appear in Winnebago County District Court May 22.
Aguirre is also currently on probation for a previous Winnebago County conviction of felony gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used.
