CLEAR LAKE | A Clear Lake man is in critical condition after the vehicle he was driving collided with several trees early Friday morning.

Cerro Gordo County deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision about 2:35 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Shore Drive outside of Clear Lake, according to a news release.

Rusty Shane Rogers, 28, was driving a blue 2002 Chrysler Sebring that left the roadway and collided with several trees, the sheriff's office said.

Law enforcement says the vehicle is believed to have been taken without the owner’s consent.

Rogers was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa with apparent non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. Rogers was listed in critical condition as of late Friday morning, according to a Mercy spokesperson.

Charges are pending investigation.

Ventura Fire, Clear Lake Fire, Clear Lake Fire medics and Lake Towing assisted at the scene.
